The Need developed from the ASK (Access, Services and Knowledge) programme and from the combined expertise of the ASK programme’s seven collaborating partners.
The ASK programme succeeded in its aim of increasing the uptake of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services among young people, aged 10 to 24 years, including under-served groups. This guidebook sets out the public health rationale for making it easier for adolescents to obtain the health services that they need to protect and improve their health and well-being, including sexual and reproductive health services.
It defines ‘adolescent-friendly health services’ from the perspective of quality, and provides step-by. access to reproductive health is an opportunity for a renewed commitment to further advance the SRH agenda. Based on this global political reaffirmation of the ICPD agenda, reproductive rights are now considered a human right for all people, including universal access to reproductive health.
